Lindisfarne has an Early Learning Centre (ELC) which includes Preschool and Kindergarten. Children turning 4 by the 30 April are eligible to attend either the full or part time Preschool program.

Philosophy of the Early Learning Centre

The ELC philosophy is based upon current best practice research that acknowledges and promotes child initiated play based learning opportunities.

What will I see my child doing?

  • Exploratory Play - sand and water play, cooking, computers and gardening.
  • Constructive Play - Lego, blocks, boxes, craft, collage, puzzles, playdough and painting.
  • Dramatic Play - home corner, shops, hospitals, vets, puppets and dress ups.
  • Games with Rules - simple board games, bingo, pass the parcel and Simon Says.
  • Physical Play - obstacle course, outdoor games, sandpit, dancing, motor program and PE.
  • Language Play - singing, rhyming, book corner, drawing / writing centres, special workbooks, talk ing, morning talks, french, music and library.
